Arya Madhavan (Ayurveda Lifecare Clinic)

Meet Arya Madhavan, Ayurveda Lifecare Clinic

Arya Madhavan works alongside her husband, Dr Sreenath Nair, at the Ayurveda Lifecare Clinic, sharing traditional Ayurvedic bodywork rooted in classical practice.

Her speciality is Marma Therapy (Marmachikitsa), which works with the 108 marma points mapped out by the ancient physicians. A trained Marma practitioner understands how each point relates to the body’s inner systems, breath, dosha (body type), dhatu (tissue) and srotas (inner channels), and works with them to support balance and wellbeing.

She also offers Rasayana, the Ayurvedic tradition of rejuvenation, which is all about restoring energy and vitality, easing everyday stress and fatigue, and leaving you feeling rested and renewed. Treatments use the clinic’s own pain-relief oil, made by Dr Nair in small batches at their Lincolnshire home, using the Ayurvedic method of heat infusion with natural herbs and leaves.

At the event, Arya will be offering hands-on treatments including Indian head massage, back and shoulders, and hands and feet. You will find her on the Ayurveda Lifecare Clinic stand across the weekend.

What Marma therapy involves

Marma therapy is a hands-on practice, and it helps to know what sits behind it. The marma points are places where, in the Ayurvedic tradition, flesh, vessel, tendon, bone and joint are understood to meet, and a Marma practitioner works them with gentle, deliberate pressure. The idea is not force but attention: easing where the body feels held, and encouraging a sense of settledness and flow. Like the rest of Ayurveda, it is offered as a traditional practice for balance and wellbeing rather than as a medical treatment, and it sits comfortably alongside the ordinary care you already take of yourself.

What to expect at the stand

You do not need to know anything about Ayurveda to sit down with Arya. The treatments she offers at the event are hands-on and easy to receive: Indian head massage, work across the back and shoulders, and attention to the hands and feet. Each is a chance to slow down for a few minutes in the middle of a busy day, and to feel what considered, unhurried touch can do. If you are curious about Marma therapy or Rasayana but unsure where to begin, the stand is a gentle, no-pressure place to ask what a session involves and whether it suits you.

Something to try this week

You can borrow a little of the Ayurvedic habit of pausing without any training at all. Once a day this week, rest the pads of your fingers lightly at your temples, close your eyes, and take five slow breaths before you carry on. Ayurveda pays close attention to the small, daily moments most of us hurry through, and this is one of them: a brief, deliberate settling that costs nothing and asks nothing of you. It is a modest taste of the attention Arya brings to her hands-on work.
